The Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) is run by the Academic Development Unit (ADU), providing a supportive but challenging framework within which participants can develop their knowledge and understanding, skills and practice as academic professionals in Higher Education.

Application

You can apply for a place on the PGCAP programme by completing this application form for the PGCAP programme and please ensure that you attach a signed-off letter of support by your Line Manager/Head of School.

Alternatively, you can apply for individual modules (including the programme's core module) using the appropriate forms below.

When applying for the full programme or individual modules, please ensure that you include a letter of support with any application. This needs to include your line manager's signature of approval. Without this letter, your application will NOT be considered.

Latest News

The programme begins with an Induction event – an exciting and lively opportunity to meet tutors and peers and to begin your study on the programme. You will need to attend the induction whether joining the PG Certificate or the core module as a stand-alone option.

There are two entry points per year, one in September and one in January.

Professional Recognition

The PG Cert in Academic Practice meets the requirements of the UK Professional Standards Framework (UK PSF) at Standard Descriptor 2 and is accredited by the Higher Education Academy. Those who successfully complete the programme are eligible to apply to become Fellows of the Higher Education Academy (www.heacademy.ac.uk).

The PG Cert in Academic Practice has been approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council for the qualification of Nurse Teacher.
